My project explores the way people connect and interact through printed books, how a book shared by a collection of different people becomes an object with its own life and history. As libraries have taken on the electronic loan system for books, it has also replaced the traditional loan cards, each with its loan history printed on a piece of paper. Each one of my final books brings to light the loan card and its unique story, together with its genre – romance, fantasy Etc – matching these with a variety of working methods : lino printing, cutting, pasting, folding, and experimenting with type – all on a variety of
different papers.
