The contemporary world is saturated in written language and an overload of
information. Gradually the way in which we share and interact with this information
is changing and more digital forms of communication are replacing older/trusted
methods. My interactive display is aimed at eBook readers but plays with a sense of
nostalgia that anyone who has ever enjoyed a good book can appreciate. It highlights
the intended tangible nature of a book by engaging the participant with its smell,
texture and material properties. Current debate and discussion of the impending
'death of print' gives further insight into different perspectives, and allows
participants to make up their own minds as to whether these changes are a step in
the right direction in the shaping of contemporary culture.
