A project which started off by selling type through a vending machine, to create type awareness.
That would be featured at exhibitions, events that evolves typography.
Since then the idea has changed into making theses Type USB sticks made from fonts and typefaces. Theses USB sticks would store the digital font files in their format TrueType(.tff) OpenTypeFormat(.otf) The idea is to buy the USB stick through the vending machine and you will get the font or typeface on the USB stick. Reason for the USB stick is because unlike a blank disc you can reuse the USB for future use as in my research many designers still us USB sticks to store data and transfer large amounts of data to other computers. And also other technology devices such like the iPad.
The idea and product would have to be limited of how many of the USB sticks that could be made, as I didn’t want to end up with dead stock. Through out the development of the idea I started to combine the past with the future, by making letterpress USB sticks out of wood. One of which was the ampersand, I decided to various different ampersands from different fonts and typefaces. What’s great about this idea is the letterpress USB stick can be used as an actual letterpress.
