Back in the USSR

My project is based on my childhood memories of growing up in the Soviet Union. Having recently been reacquainted with my childhood photographs and books from that time I experienced a series of flashback memories, some clear, not less distinct or far from clear, often in separate ‘fragments’.

These enclosed illustrations are like a ‘memory map’; each one is a ‘sense-impression’ of what the photographs and books trigger in my mind. They all reflect a part of my childhood memories that are important to me and that made me into what I am now.
