The Death of Libraries
My project started when I heard my local library was going to be closed down in the wake of Coalition cuts. I love reading books and go to the library regularly so I wanted
to create a ‘shrine’ to remember the library by.
I made bookmarks containing messages of people’s feelings of connection to their library
together with the local council’s reasons for closing the libraries down – ‘opposing’
one side of the argument against the other in ‘black and white’. A book collects all the other messages.
